“ I believe technology can empower; it can  be used to keep “doors open” and “open new doors”. The MyAmego™  system allows an individual with reducing physical or mental capability to maintain contact and/or participation in activities they are fond of and provides ew stimuli or opportunity.”

Information for Families of People with Dementia and other Cognitive Impairment or Disabilities

MyAmego™ is designed to assist people with dementia and other cognitive impairment or disabilities.

The service user chooses a small wearable electronic device, similar in size and shape to generic nurse-call devices. Data from the devices is captured and relayed by small wireless monitors placed in and around the home. The user, working with their carer, decides which aspects of their living environment they would like monitored and in what situations they would like their carer alerted.

Uniquely this system interprets the user’s risk and mobility in relation to their living space; automatically and instantly paging carers for assistance or information only when agreed with and appropriate to the particular service user. This allows the individual more freedom  to do as they please without unnecessary intervention or invasion of privacy and frees up the time of the carer from doing tasks to providing care.

The unique aspect of the My Amego™ system is that it analyses the user’s environment in relation to the needs of the individual, assessing risk levels and alerting the carers only when it is appropriate. The rest of the time the individual is free to go and do as they please without unnecessary intervention or invasion of privacy.

For example:

A user may be at risk if they approach the stairs so a a red alert message can be sent by My Amego™ telling the care worker who is at risk and where; they are then able to take the appropriate action.
