The My Amego™ system allows carers to tailor care plans to reduce risks and meet the needs of individual users e.g. risk of going outside unaccompanied, lack of mobility, risk of falling
My Amego™ also has uses beyond protection and independence, and offers users and their care providers the potential for supporting and monitoring proactive care and health planning.
For example:
A user with care and health needs associated with excess weight can monitor their own level of daily activity as part of a weight management programme. My Amego™ uses the location data it collects to give an indication of the amount of walking undertaken in any given period. The care team can see their progress in supporting the service user and with the data and the tools My Amego™ provides show the quality of care they are providing.
Janet Dean, Registered Care Home Manager
Carers can, under agreed terms with the service user, access the secure website to analyse the user’s activities and to create reports using the data collected. Reports can, when authorized by the service user, be printed for inclusion in Care Plans. This allows an integrated and transparent use of the information to deliver improved Care Planning and enhance the formal discussions at Care Reviews. The reports can also assist informal care discussions with the service user and where agreed with the service user, provide information about the service user to family members or other healthcare/social care professionals responsible for the users care. The My Amego™ system includes a package of forms that enables the individual to state who they would like this information to be shared with and who they would not like it shared with.
"Our trial of the system has produced very successful outcomes and we can see the benefits already in those residents who have their own MyAmego™ fob – which in itself is a small, but very important personal possession for them. I would like to see all care homes with residents with dementia offering this type of service as it would go a long way to helping improve the care of people with dementia in homes here in the UK."
